New Canadians Health Centre
The New Canadians Health Centre (NCHC) is Edmonton’s only specialized refugee community health centre, providing interdisciplinary and culturally safe healthcare tailored to the needs of newly arrived refugees. Guided by principles of social justice, equity, and inclusion, NCHC operates under an innovative, principles-based model designed to support refugee health and wellbeing.
In 2021, the NCHC partnered with the Evaluation Capacity Network to research and evaluate the impact of this model. This collaboration explores how the NCHC's principles-based approach enhances healthcare delivery, improves access, and shapes the experiences and outcomes of refugee clients. Our research also explores its role in child and maternal healthcare and transitions to long-term care. Together, we aim to generate insights that advance equitable and effective healthcare in Canada.
