Mentoring Youth and Young Adults from Care (MYYAC) Evaluation
Over the last four years, the Alberta Mentoring Partnership (AMP) and the Evaluation Capacity Network (ECN) have partnered to support evaluation capacity building and evaluation implementation in AMP’s partner organizations. The current focus of the partnership is supporting the evaluation of a new mentoring program in Alberta, called Mentoring Youth and Young Adults from Care (MYYAC). By providing high-quality and consistent mentoring to youth and young adults between the ages of 16-24 years, the goal of MYYAC is to create a coordinated provincial approach to mentoring to foster developmental relationships characterized by confidence and trust.
Integral to MYYAC evaluation is engaging in Indigenizing and decolonizing processes, weaving in Indigenous ways of knowing and being in every step; from planning to reporting. In taking this approach, the ECN and AMP are currently supporting three mentoring agencies across Alberta as they implement the MYYAC program: Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Calgary and Area, Boys and Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters (BGCBigs) of Edmonton and Area, and Youth HQ in Red Deer. As the program and evaluation are developing, more agencies from across Alberta will join soon!
